I suffer from Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome, otherwise known as POTS.
That basically means I pass out a lot at random times.
With POTS my hands and feet will start to tingle and then I will get very light headed and dizzy. I can usually sit down and eat ice to make it stop before I faint but I am not always that lucky. POTS is actually very common to have with over 200,000 US cases reported each year. I found out I had POTS when I was pregnant. I was having a conversation with my OB and then I woke up with her holding me and nurses rushing into the room. They admitted me to the hospital and ran tests all day. Thankfully all the tests came back normal and one of the doctors told me she thought I had POTS. I followed up with my primary care doctor and sure enough, she was right. Now that I’m not pregnant I don’t struggle with it nearly as much but I do still have some issues. I actually went into early labor at 36 weeks by passing out and landing on my stomach. Don’t worry, Easton was completely fine and so was I. If you think you have POTS I highly recommend talking to your doctor as it is treatable.
