Mental health is something i am extremely passionate about. Over the past 8-10 years I’ve suffered from depression, anxiety, panic attacks, and an eating disorder. Which believe it or not is actually a mental illness. I’ve been seen by multiple doctors on the subject of my mental state. The number one thing I’ve learned is,
Medicine isn’t your enemy, what you suffer from is.
Now i’m not saying that taking a medication for a week will solve your depression. When I started out on antidepressants as a teenager it took around a year to find a pill that was safe for me to take and also worked to help me feel better. I had to try so many different things and really have faith in my doctor that he knew what he was doing. The second biggest thing I’ve learned is,
Asking for help does NOT make you weak.
I cant stress that enough. Asking for help means you see a problem and realize you can’t do it alone. It does not make you weak or less of a person at all.
Mental health issues NEED to be talked about. We personally need to end the stigma that is associated with mental health currently.
You are not alone in this struggle.
If there is one thing I can promise you, it is this. Many people struggle with mental health on a daily basis. Sometimes even people you would least suspect are having problems, are fighting huge battles inside their own head.
I know this post was short and to the point but I feel like you have to be when it comes to mental health. If you or someone you know is struggling with mental health issues I suggest seeking help from a medical professional.
